Note to all of you homemakers out there:
If you are putting up some seasonal produce and it includes peppers,
wear gloves.
No matter how hard or often you scrub your hands, there will still be hot pepper oils under your nails that will inevitably find their way to your eyes.
The 10 pints of salsa and 3 pints of relish are a happy sight though.
Or would be if I could see through my stinging eyes.

Yesterday was Spaghetti Sauce day here. The house still smells of onions! I feel like I'm all canned out. I can not imagine doing this...

I hear you! I made pepper jelly once (with apple juice mix- so delicious btw!!) and had the same problem.
Lesson learned. And I bet it's delicious too! Would love to see some pics.

The eyes weren't so bad for me. It was getting the most painful taste off of my fingers. I'm one who licks my fingers as I cook. Don't worry I also wash them a rediculous amount. But the HOT taste was overpowering everything.
